WHAT IS AN ACCIDENT?
An accident covered by this Policy is considered to be any event that causes bodily injury to the Insured Party in the form of contusion or visible wound on the outside of the body (except in the case of drowning or injuries revealed by medical examination or autopsy) and which causes the death of the Insured Party or the loss of any of their limbs, organs or functions, provided that such event is produced independently of the will of the Insured Party or any other cause, by the sudden, direct and violent action of external or fortuitous causes.
In addition, the following shall be understood as covered accidents.
a) Asphyxia or intoxication by vapors or gases or by immersion or obstruction;
b) Electrocution; burns;
c) Intoxication or poisoning by ingestion of toxic substances or spoiled food consumed in public places or acquired in such a state.
d) Anthrax or tetanus of traumatic origin.
e) Rabies, animal bites, or insect stings and their consequences;
f) Microbial infections contracted through punctures suffered in the exercise of the declared occupation.
g) Injuries sustained by the insured party as a consequence of the practice of the following sports as a hobby but not exercised as a profession: Athletics, basketball, baseball, bowling, hiking on trails or roads, small game hunting, cycling, rowing, sailing and/or motorized water sports on rivers and lakes, horseback riding, fencing, skiing, soccer, gymnastics, golf, field hockey, swimming, skating, fishing other than deep sea fishing, table tennis, softball, tennis, shooting at licensed ranges, volleyball, and water polo.
