Historical Review

In July 2009, we started operations in El Salvador under the name of Seguros La Hipotecaria, providing insurance services only for the financial company La Hipotecaria, a company dedicated to the granting of financing for the acquisition of homes.

As of 2010 and in response to the expansion strategy in the Central American Region, the group decided that the companies in El Salvador should have the structure and products to serve the entire Salvadoran market.

As of January 11, 2012, the ASSA brand was launched in the Salvadoran insurance market, with all insurance lines, both for individuals and companies.

Its strategic objective is to expand the benefits of insurance to the Salvadoran population, in the branches of personal and damage insurance, offering group life insurance, personal accidents, and all damage insurance products, such as fire, automobile, technical insurance, transportation, and other risks.

The company’s focus is to comprehensively meet all the needs of companies and individuals, providing added value to their protection needs, while working hand in hand with insurance intermediaries and policyholders, in order to support them with the experience and strength of ASSA Insurance Company.

International Experience

Its incursion into the Salvadoran market originates from the growth potential of the local insurance industry, as well as from ASSA’s organizational strategy of regional expansion, which is supported by an “A International” (excellent) rating, issued by the international risk rating agency specialized in insurance, A.M. Best.

ASSA Compañía de Seguros, S.A. is a subsidiary of ASSA Compañía Tenedora, S.A., which in turn is 100% owned by Grupo ASSA and is engaged in the general, surety, life, and health insurance business.
